Ameren Missouri requires every new dock, addition, modification, and refoam to be done by a certified dock builder or by the owner of that shoreline property. The phrase “Ameren certified” on a truck is not the test. The current list is.
Where the list lives
Ameren publishes an approved dock builder PDF and links it from the dock requirements page:
The file name in Ameren’s media library has been the certified dock builder list. Open the PDF Ameren links today. A copy dated February 2, 2026 contained 63 builders in the count made for this project. Builders drop off and new numbers appear. A company that was certified in 2025 may not be on the 2026 file. If a builder is not on the current PDF, they are not who Ameren says may do the work, no matter what a website title claims.
This site will not reprint the list, the phone numbers, or a ranking. The official PDF changes, and a copied list becomes a way to hire the wrong person.
What certification takes
Appendix B and the dock requirements page use the same minimums:
- A valid Ameren permit before construction starts
- Commercial liability insurance of at least $1,000,000, with Ameren Missouri named as an additional insured
- Workers’ compensation and employer’s liability of at least $500,000, and whatever else state law requires
- An affidavit or other proof that waste foam and materials were disposed of properly
- An initial certification inspection, then random inspections
There is also a fee schedule for the builder’s own certificate: $300 to apply, $100 a year, $300 to be reinstated. Those are the builder’s fees, not yours. Your permit is separate.
What to ask before you sign
- Read your builder’s name on the current PDF yourself.
- Ask who pulls the permit, and from which account. If they apply inside their builder account by mistake, they can become the permit holder. Ameren warns about that.
- Ask whether your job is a new permit, a modification, a transfer, or a repair they believe is not a modification.
- Ask for the insurance additional-insured language rather than a verbal “we’re covered.”
The quote you send through this site goes to one independent builder once an agreement is in place, not to a blast of the whole list. Until a builder is named in the site settings, the request is held for that single referral. How the handoff works is on how it works. Builders who want the agreement should read for dock builders.
