Storm damage and the 48-hour report

Lake Ozarks Dock & Lift is operated by Blake Reitnauer as a referral service. It is not a dock builder, not an Ameren-certified dock builder, and not affiliated with Ameren Missouri. Requests are referred to one independent Ameren-certified dock builder, not to a list of contractors.

Appendix B has one narrow opening for speed. In extreme situations, emergency temporary repairs may be made to protect people and private property. Those repairs still have to meet federal, state, and local requirements, and they must be reported to Ameren Missouri’s Shoreline Management office within 48 hours of the repair.

Read that as a duty to report, not as permission to rebuild.

What to do the day of the storm

  • Get people off a dock that is breaking up, arcing, or drifting.
  • If you make a temporary repair, write down when you finished it. The 48 hours run from the repair.
  • Report it to Ameren’s shoreline office. Do not report it only to this website. We are not the shoreline office, and a quote form is not the 48-hour notice.
  • Photograph the damage for the builder and for your insurer. Stay off a dock that is in the water in pieces.

What comes next

A hinge replaced to keep a section from floating away is a temporary repair. A new roof, a longer dock, or a full refoam is a permitted project. The fee schedule still lists $550 for a modification and $2,000 for work that never had a permit. Describe the temporary work in the repair request so the builder knows what you already touched.

If the storm tore the floats open, the replacement floats still have to be approved encapsulated flotation. A quick load of barrels is the thing Appendix B prohibits. See approved flotation.

Choose “storm or safety repair” for the timeline on the form. That flag tells the builder the job is not a winter planning exercise. It does not move you ahead of Ameren’s permit desk if the repair grows into a modification.

Questions

Does the 48-hour call replace a permit?

No. Appendix B allows emergency temporary repairs so people and property stay safe, and it requires a report within 48 hours. Rebuilding or enlarging the dock still follows the permit rules.
